About

My name is Levi Heilman. I am a college student studying Mechanical Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University. I live and work out of my apartment in State College, PA during the semester and spend my summer crafting in the basement of my Philadelphia home.

I started Word Work and Leather in the winter of 2015 with a passion for the restoration of God's word. My very first project was to restore a Journaling Bible that was tearing away from its cover. It came out pretty rough, but was functional. From there, I had friends and family members asking for a rebind of their personal bibles. Eventually, the requests transitioned into items such as wallets, guitar straps, and belts, but the goal behind them remained the same. 'Hand-crafting leather goods with materials of the highest quality in order to ensure durability for many lifetimes.' This mindset inspired products like the Duty Belt, the Scout Wallet, the Brutus key fob, and every other item available in my store!

I seek to honor my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in every step of the process of manufacturing quality leather goods, and I hope and pray that this is evident with every product that is received by the customer.

Quality in Every Step

For a leather craftsman, one of the most important keys to success is making the decision to use top quality leathers from trustworthy tanneries. An incredible example of this is the Wickett & Craig tannery in Curwensville, PA. We are lucky enough to be less than an hour from the tannery and have had the pleasure of touring their facility.
